After much consideration on what type of pig we wanted to raise on our farm, we finally decided on raising registered Berkshires and we are so glad we did! These pigs are so friendly, clean, and love to be brushed and petted! We strongly believe that happy animals are healthy animals which translates into better breeding stock and pork for our customers. We follow compassionate farming and Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) Standards for our pigs and they are able to act naturally by building nests, rooting, wallowing, and foraging. Our pigs have continuous outdoor access , toys to keep them busy, clean chorine free water, vegetables and forage and the highest quality local feed available. We do not use cramped gestation or farrowing crates, but instead allow our sows to raise their piglets naturally. Piglets are kept with their sow for no less than four weeks. Our pigs are never fed antibiotics or other growth inducing hormones. We are registered breeders and members of the American Berkshire Association so you can be sure you are getting a high quality animal or pork when you buy from our small ecofarm.
About Registered Berkshire Pork –
Widely recognized as the most premium pork in the world, Berkshire pork is renowned for its high degree of marbling, with lines of “good fat” running throughout the meat that melt like butter during cooking, producing meat that is sweeter, more tender, and juicier than your average commodity variety. Additionally, we comply with strict testing standards to ensure a superior tasting and healthier pork product that is all natural, minimally processed, and contains no steroids, hormones, animal by-products or additives.
The Registered Berkshire Pork seal is the only way to ensure your pork has been produced from 100% purebred heritage Berkshires. As the oldest swine registry in the world, the ABA has developed a detailed testing program to ensure you’re purchasing the best tasting, highest quality product on the market.
Our pigs always have access to the outdoors and have plenty of space to move around.
